The Thick Dark Fog

In English class we watched a documentary called “The Thick Dark Fog.” The documentary was

informational and it was about Native Americans who were taken from their families at young

ages and were forced to forget their culture and become American. The American's motto was “Kill the

Indian save the American.” The purpose of this wrongful doing was that they were trying to

make everyone the same, stamp out Native culture and language. They were making a judgment

saying their culture was better by brainwashing the young Native Americans. They were

replacing their Native language and culture with the American way of life.

Walter Littlemoon in the documentary was already of older age but he was still full of sadness about the loss

of his culture and the wrong-doing of the American people. After a while at the boarding school

16 miles away from where he lived, he forgot what who his mom was and what she looked like.

His mother snuck into the boarding school to visit him, and he didn’t recognize her at all until she

was walking away but that was too late because she was too far away already.

In the boarding school they were punished for disobeying by withholding food and beat them. He was full

of anger due to the fact that they were separating him from his family and making him learn a new

way of life he was not a custom to. This was wrongful and harsh of  the American Government to do to

Native American children. The children had nothing to do and were not asked to be in this matter. How

would you like it if one day the government did this to your children?

  2. Hey Alfredo,
I really like your background, it's very catchy! I really like how you included the map so people could know where the reservations were. I think to make your blog better, you should put the video on top because it will grab the readers attention and will make the blog more interesting. You also need to make sure you don't have a lot of spacing in your writing, but overall it's good.!

  3. I really liked your post and the picture I liked was the one with the map. That picture grabbed my attention while reading. The only thing I would say that can make your post better is adding examples of what punishments the children got. I would say to move the video to the top to make the viewer be more interested and to make the spacing in the post smaller.
